Oh gosh – another nail polish. Warning, I change my polish at least twice a week – it’s a problem. Anyway! I tried out the Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Luxe Lavender. Though I love the packaging which feels heavy and looks very classy, and I think the shade of purple is very pretty and great for spring, I was not a fan of the formula. As you can tell it was pretty streaky. It was definitely creamy and it only took 2 coats to get good coverage, I found the end result to be streaky and look terribly done. It didn’t settle nicely. I will probably try it again to see if I get the same result but this polish didn’t wow me. For all the polishes out there, I would probably skip this one.
Back in April I went on vacation to Costa Rica (it was amazing, I encourage you to go!). When I was thinking about essentials that I wanted to pack I thought of a clay mask. I feel like I need to do a deep cleansing mask once a week. I didn’t want to bring my big bottle of the Origins Clear Improvement Clay Mask (review to come), so I thought I would bring the travel sized Clinique one I had sitting around to try out. I didn’t have high hopes for it and no, I don’t know why. I guess I just really enjoy my Origins one and was thinking it wouldn’t be comparable. WELL! Results wise I believe that this is comparable. It did a fantastic job of purging the gunk stuck in my face. I mean, I was trekking up mountains in Costa Rica and I was pretty grimy mid week. This stuff seemed to have brought my skin back into check while scaring off any blemishes that were attempting to surface. The texture was different then I was used to – which is a thick mud like mask. It was thin in texture almost like a calamine lotion, and I found it dried super quickly. Which is good I guess because it only recommends you keep it on for 5 minutes and then rinse it off. So not only efficient but quick! Fantastic for vacation – I was even happier I had brought this along! Once it was washed off my face there was no tackiness and my face did not feel dry or tight. Over all, I would buy the full sized product. I thought it did exactly what it was meant to do in 5 minutes. It’s oil free and very gentle. If you’re in the market for a clay based mask – consider this!
Now I only had a sample of this product which was 0.67fl oz. It did give me a bit of use though, so let’s get to it. It claims to be extra-gentle and I have to say – it is. It’s so gentle that I felt like I was just washing my face with…..nothing. I don’t mean that to sound like a negative because it did what it said but, it was too gentle for me. It lacked “oomph”. If you have super sensitive skin then this cleanser would be AMAZING for you. It’s of a gel consistency, very lightly scented – you could barely smell a thing and super silky to apply. It does remove light traces of make up but I think if you’re having a heavy duty make up day, this would not do the job. Again, it was too gentle for me. Does it get the job done? Yes. Was it fun to use? No. It barely foamed, frothed or did anything for that matter. I wouldn’t purchase this just for the reason that it’s not something I need. I really think that intolerant skin would benefit from this product.
I’m on Island Time. That’s what this BEAUTIFUL……amazing…..AH-MAZING colour is called by Ceramic Glaze. I was walking through the store and immediately stopped, picked it up and took it to the checkout. Once on my nails I was not disappointed. It verges on neon but it’s so super creamy and easy to apply. My only complaint is that it took 3 coats. It was SO worth it though. I use my hands a lot for my work and there is minimal chipping, so for someone who is conscious of their polish or doesn’t use their hands aggressively, this could have some good wear time on it! This is probably going to be my most used colour this summer. Toes, fingers, friends toes and fingers. Go out and add this to your summer collection.
When winter rolled around I was looking into getting a full coverage foundation. Foundation (for me) takes time to buy. I need to touch it, stare at it – full coverage really needs to mean full coverage but not so full it’s cakey. It also needs to make me look healthy. I am so pale and dull in the winter that a good dose of “glow” is something I look for. So off I went to Sephora because I was feeling especially snobby and was looking for higher end for some reason. The lovely sales lady found my skin match number with their fantastic hand held skin tone matching machine-thing and we were off! We picked about 3 or 4 to try out and she would apply it to my face, I would wait and see how it settled and felt and then rinse and repeat. What patience she had. Fast forward to lord knows how much later it was but I had chosen the Teint Miracle by Lancôme. This foundation is buildable but pulls off full coverage beautifully WITHOUT being cakey. It is the right amount of dewy without making you look greasy and pleasurable to put on your face. It lasted me from the beginning of winter to about a week ago and I wore it every friggin day. It did not aggravate my acne prone skin and it has about a 9 hour wear. This was probably the best full coverage foundation I have ever owned. It was so hydrating on top of it all. I don’t have dry skin normally but tend to be dryer in the winter. I won’t be repurchasing this as we head into summer because I think it would be too heavy for hot weather. Over all this is a fantastic foundation. If you’re in the market for dewy, hydrating and full coverage, give this a try – heck head to Sephora and get them to colour match you and put it on! I guarantee you will love it.
I’ve been away from this site for almost a year now and there really is no excuse. So I won’t even go into it. New blogs coming soon 🙂
